Lore
Born and raised in New York, Ahtziri’s the proud child of Honduran immigrants. As the youngest of the family, they learned by copying until they found what they loved. Doing church choir lead to participating in the school musical lead to their first ever acting class (shoutout Paul Ellis) lead to a lifetime passion. While working towards their BFA in Theatre and Performance at Emerson College, they acted as president of the Skintones for 3 years, released music with the Hip Hop Society, and studied at the London Dramatic Academy. Ahtziri acknowledges that they hold the legacy of those that came before them: family, mentors, community elders, and educators, and works to honor their legacies and stories with the art that they create.
A list of things that influence Ahtziri’s art:
Lesbianism
Mental Illness
Being an immigrant kid
A bizarre fixation on cryptids
Having a tumblr account since 2011
